About MP Mel Arnold:

Mel Arnold is the Member of Parliament for North Okanagan- Shuswap, Deputy Critic for Fisheries, Oceans and Canadian Coast Guard and Vice-Chair of the BC / Yukon Conservative Caucus.

Mel Arnold was elected to the House of Commons on October 19, 2015. A lifetime resident of the constituency, Mel has invested himself in working and volunteering to help make the North Okanagan-Shuswap a better place to live.

As a small business owner and operator for 26 years, Mel built a business based on quality of service and attention to detail; characteristics he carries into his new role representing constituents of the North Okanagan- Shuswap.

Mel also invested himself in volunteer work spending ten years with the BC Wildlife Federation. During this time, Mel served two terms as the Federation’s President before moving on to spending six years with the Canadian Wildlife Federation where he served as Governance Committee Chair.

Additionally, Mel was appointed to the Province of British Columbia’s Species at Risk Task Force in 2010 and served as a member of the City of Salmon Arm Environmental Advisory Committee for 8 years. In 2011, Mel received the British Columbia Wildlife Federation President’s Award for outstanding volunteer contribution to the organization.

Mel’s passion to serve and give back to our community was instilled in him at an early age by his parents who volunteered decades of service to their local community.

Mel’s business and leadership experience have sharpened his governance and management skills, focusing on sound policy development, fiscal management and public service.

Mel has built strong relationships around the riding and across the country and will continue to build those relationships in serving the North Okanagan- Shuswap.

Mel and his wife Linda, married for 37 years, live in Salmon Arm and have one grown daughter.
