Statement on Community Townhall in Oceanside

Community Update: Oceanside Town Hall – Candidate Attendance Matters

April 14, 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Nanoose Bay, BC - In the wake of two horrific, near-fatal attacks in Oceanside, our community is speaking loud and clear: we need leaders who show up.

When the first attack occurred in Rivers Edge, Kris McNichol was there. He sat with the victims. He listened, not just to their trauma, but to their fears for the future. He’s committed to taking those voices to Ottawa — not with empty words, but with a plan for real action.

When the second attack happened, Kris didn’t wait. He stood up again, ready to fight for the safety and dignity of our community.

Now, Oceanside residents are hosting a public Town Hall this Tuesday at 6:30 PM at the Nanoose Bay Community Centre. This open house is a chance for candidates to look voters in the eye and answer to the concerns that have shaken this community.

Kris McNichol will be there. Will the others?

We challenge Gord Johns and Brian Cameron to show up. If they truly represent this riding, they should be listening to the very people they hope to serve. If they don’t come — they’re not showing up for you.

Let’s demand better. Show up, speak out, and help send a message that action matters more than politics.
