Ottawa, ON – James Bezan, Conservative Shadow Minister for National Defence, Pierre Paul-Hus, Conservative Shadow Minister for Public Services and Procurement, and Leona Alleslev, MP for Aurora—Oak Ridges—Richmond Hill, released the following statement calling on Prime Minister Trudeau and Minister Sajjan to stop misleading Canadians:

“Both Prime Minister Trudeau and Minister Sajjan have a habit of giving Canadians false information, especially when it comes to ethical issues. Recently, Minister Sajjan stated that he had no part in increasing the pay for General Vance. Testimony by the Privy Council Office proves the opposite is true.

“This is not the first time that Minister Sajjan has had a problem with the truth. The Minister falsely claimed to be the ‘architect’ of Canada’s largest military operation in Afghanistan and mislead Canadians on his role in cutting tax benefits for our troops fighting ISIS.

“The Liberal culture of misleading Canadians is something that Justin Trudeau has engrained in his government. When presented with reporting of his government’s attempt to interfere with a criminal prosecution, Prime Minister Trudeau famously stated that, ‘the reporting in the Globe and Mail is false.’ The reality is the reporting was true, and Justin Trudeau was not being honest with Canadians.

“It’s time for Prime Minister Trudeau and Minister Sajjan to stop their dishonesty. Canadians deserve the truth, especially when it comes to sexual misconduct in Canadian Armed Forces. Canada’s Conservatives will continue to call out the Trudeau Liberals when they try to mislead Canadians and fight for the honest answers that Canadians deserve.”
